# Inviting another club to play you

Club HubClub admins3 min read

One game, on both clubs’ fixtures, instead of each club typing it in.

## When to use it

You’re adding a match against a club that isn’t in the list of opponents. That’s usually a cup tie, or a league opponent who hasn’t been entered yet. Inviting them puts the game on **their** fixtures as well as yours, so both squads see it and both clubs can agree the result.

**They don’t need to be on LEKKIN already.** The invitation email lets a club that isn’t set itself up, with its name filled in, and brings them straight back to your invitation.

There’s no list of clubs to pick from. Nobody can see which clubs are on LEKKIN, so the invitation is how you reach them.

## Inviting them while you add the match

1. Open **Matches**, then **Fixtures**, and press **Add fixture**.
2. Choose the competition and your team, and say whether you’re at home or away.
3. Under **Opponent**, choose **Not listed, or not decided yet…**.
4. Under **Do you know who you’re playing?**, choose **Yes**, type **their club’s name**, and tick **Send them an invitation**. The match has their name straight away, as a private opponent only your club can see.
5. Add the kick-off if you know it, and press **Add fixture**.
6. The invitation opens. Either:
    - type **their email address**, usually their secretary or a manager, and press **Email the invitation**; or
    - leave the address empty and press **Get a link to share**. On a phone, **Share** sends it straight to WhatsApp or wherever you talk to them; **Copy link** puts it on your clipboard to paste yourself.
7. Add a **note** if it helps, such as “your Under 12s Girls”. They’ll see it when they open the link.

The link is shown only then, so copy it before you close. You can always send a new one.

## Inviting them to a match you’ve already added

Open it (it opens in the Team Hub), then **When and where**. Under **Opponent**, press **Invite them** for a club you named yourself, or, for a match still _To be confirmed_, choose **Not listed, or not decided yet…**, then **Yes**, their name and **Send them an invitation**.

## While you wait

The match reads _invitation sent_ on your fixtures, with who it went to. Only your club sees that. It keeps the name you gave them until they accept.

You can still change the date, kick-off and home or away. They see the latest when they open the link.

**Withdrawing it:** open the match, **When and where**, press **Invitation…** under **Opponent**, then **Withdraw the invitation**. The link stops working. Sending a new invitation also stops the old link.

## What happens next

- **They accept:** they choose their club and which of their teams plays, which takes the place of the name you gave them. It’s on both clubs’ fixtures straight away, both squads are told, and the match works like any other: availability, the match centre, and the result, which both clubs agree.
- **They decline:** we tell you. The match keeps the name you gave them, so it still works as a game against a club that isn’t on LEKKIN. Or invite another club, or choose an opponent from the list.
- **Nobody answers:** the link runs out after 14 days, or at the kick-off if that’s sooner, and we tell you.

## Things to know

- The link works **once**. Whoever opens it signs in first, and must run a team at their club: a club admin, or that team’s manager. Their email doesn’t have to match the one you sent it to, so a secretary can pass it on to the manager.
- Your club can’t accept its own invitation.
- Only the club that added the match can invite, choose or change its opponent.

## Who can do this

Club admins, and the people who run teams (a team’s manager, for their own team, in the Team Hub). The other club answers in [Answering an invitation to play](/help/club/answering-an-invitation-to-play/).
