# Which league your team plays in — LEKKIN help

# Which league your team plays in

A team’s leagues are the leagues it’s in on LEKKIN, and any your club tells us it plays in. A team can be in several.

## What counts as a team’s league

A team’s leagues come from two places:

-   **The leagues it’s entered in this season.** A team in two leagues shows both. A cup doesn’t count, and nor does a league marked friendly.
-   **The leagues your club says it plays in**, season by season. Most local leagues run their own entries, so you tell us. Saying so doesn’t enter the team or tell the league anything, but its first fixture there enters it.

A team in no league, or in a league we don’t list, is completely normal.

## Saying which league a new team plays in

1.  Open **Teams** and press **Add a team**.
2.  Under **League (optional)**, choose your **County**, or leave it on **All counties**.
3.  Type in **Search for your league**, for example “Sunday League”, and choose it from the list.
4.  If the league has divisions, choose one under **Division (optional)**. Choose **Not sure, or not listed** if you don’t know.
5.  Press **Add team**.

Only club admins can add teams. **Edit team** doesn’t ask the league: a team’s leagues change through its **Competitions** (joining or leaving one) and the season’s question, below.

## When you create your club

If you create a club from your LEKKIN sign-in page with **Create a club**, you can choose the first team’s league there, under **Its league (optional)**. It works the same way. The sign-up form on this website doesn’t ask, so set it afterwards from **Teams**.

## Which leagues you’re offered

You’re only offered leagues for the **team’s sport**. A new team plays your club’s sport.

If we don’t hold any leagues for that sport yet, the picker says so, for example **We don’t have netball leagues yet**. You can carry on and save the team without one.

If your search finds nothing, your league may not be listed. Leave it empty, and press **Missing league? Tell us which** to ask us to add it. What you searched for is filled in for you; add the county if you know it. You’ll find our reply in **Support → Your requests**.

If the list of leagues can’t be loaded, it says so. You can still save the team and add the league later.

## Changing it

-   **It joined or left a league that lets clubs enter themselves**: use the team’s **Competitions** tab, **Join a competition** or **Leave**.
-   **Its league changed, or it isn’t in one now**: answer the season’s question, below. You don’t have to wait for it: once it’s shown, **It’s changed** opens the league picker.

## Each new season: confirm your competitions

Leagues change over the summer: promotion, relegation, new divisions. So **when each team’s new season starts**, LEKKIN asks your club’s admins to check its league is still right. You get a notification, in the Club Hub and by email, and a card on the **Dashboard** until it’s done.

### When a team’s season starts

A team’s season starts on its **country’s FA’s** date, unless its league runs to a different one:

| Northern Ireland (Irish FA) | 1 August |
| Northern Ireland women’s leagues (NIWFA) | 1 March |

A team with **no league** takes the date of the FA your club is affiliated to, or **1 August** if there isn’t one. So teams at one club can be asked on different days, and each is asked on its own.

You can see a team’s date when you choose its league: **Its season starts 1 July (The FA)** appears under the league picker.

1.  Press **Confirm competitions** on the Dashboard card, or open the notification. The question is at the top of **Competitions**, headed **Confirm your competitions for the new season**. A team’s manager can answer it for their own team in the Team Hub too.
2.  Each team is listed with last season’s league, and which season it’s being asked about. Press one answer per team:
    -   **Same as last season**. Nothing changes.
    -   **It’s changed**. The league picker opens on the team’s current league. Promoted or relegated? Keep the league and choose the new division. Moved league? Press **Change** and choose the new one. A team’s manager gets the same picker in the Team Hub.
    -   **Not in a league now**. The league is cleared, and you’ll be asked again next season.
3.  A team with **no** league is asked **Did it join a league?**
    -   **No**. You’ll be asked again next season.
    -   **Yes, it joined one**. Choose the league.
    -   **We don’t play in a league**. You won’t be asked about that team again, unless you later give it a league.

Teams you’ve answered drop off the question; the page below shows each team’s competitions. **Nothing stops working if you leave one**: the team keeps last season’s leagues and stays on the list until someone answers.

A team you add during the season is already confirmed for it.

Only club admins are asked, because only they can change a team’s league.

## Where it shows

-   On **Teams**, under the team’s name, after its age group and gender.
-   On the team’s own page, on its **Configure** tab, as **League**, or **Leagues** when it plays in several.
-   On the team’s home page in the **Team Hub**, so its manager sees it too.

Each league is shown by its division’s name when it has one, for example **Leeds District Premier Division**.
