# Money in and out

FinancesClub admins and treasurers4 min read

Money in and out is where you record what LEKKIN doesn’t take for you: the referee, the kit order and the pitch rent going out; a sponsor’s cheque, the raffle and a grant coming in.

## Recording an amount

1. Open **Finances**, then **Money**.
2. Press **Record**, then **Record money out** or **Record money in**.
3. Say what it was for, the amount, the date and the category. Add who it was paid to or came from, and the team, if it was for one.
4. Press **Save**.

Press any line to change it, or to remove it.

Subs, match fees and facility bookings paid through LEKKIN aren’t listed here, and don’t need recording: they’re on the books already, in **Reports**.

## A receipt

Under **Receipt**, press **Add a photo or PDF**. On a phone you can take a photo there and then, so the referee’s fee slip goes on the books at the ground. A receipt is a photo or a PDF of up to 10MB.

A line with a receipt says so. Open it and press **View** to see it, or **Remove** to take it off. Removing a line removes its receipt too. Receipts are kept privately for your club, and only the people who can see Finances can open them.

## VAT

If your club is VAT-registered, put the VAT within an amount in **VAT within it**. The amount itself stays the full amount you paid or received. The VAT appears in its own column in the spreadsheet export, for your accountant.

## Costs and income that repeat

Pitch rent every month and insurance every year don’t need typing in each time. Open the **Repeating** tab, press **Add**, then **Add a repeating cost** or **Add repeating income**: what for, how much, how often, and when the first and last ones are.

They show on the dashboard when they’re due, and on **Repeating** with **Record as paid** (or **Record as received**) beside each date, which puts the amount on the books once. Budgets use them to forecast where your spending will end up.

## A match’s money

Money for one match, like the referee, the programme or a coach to an away game, is best recorded from the match itself, under **Match day**: see [Match day](/help/finances/match-day/). It lands here too.
