# Messages from the coaches

Player HubPlayers, and guardians2 min read

When a coach posts to a team you’re in, or that a player you look after plays for, it appears in Messages.

## Reading

Tap **Messages** in the menu. It shows the teams you play for, or that a player you look after plays for. If you also help run a club, the teams you only run aren’t listed here: those are in the Team Hub. Your groups are in the same list. If there’s only one conversation, it opens straight away; otherwise pick one, and on a computer it opens beside the list. If you look after more than one player, the names above the list show just one person’s, or **Everyone**’s. The tab shows how many messages you haven’t read.

Each message has the writer’s photo beside their name, or their initials if they haven’t added one.

You’re emailed when a coach posts something new. The email says who posted and where, not what they said: open LEKKIN to read it. You can also [get a buzz on your phone](/help/player/notifications-on-your-phone/).

Each conversation in your list shows how many messages you haven’t read, and those come first, in a highlighted **Unread** box. **Pin a conversation to the top** of your own list with the pin on its row.

**Pinned messages** sit at the top of a conversation: the club’s important messages, like the kit list or the season’s dates. Tap one to go straight to it in the thread. Only the club’s staff can pin a message.

## Who’s in it

**Who’s in it** shows everyone in the team’s messages: the coaches, who post, and each player with who reads for them, a guardian or the player themselves. On a wide screen it’s beside the messages; otherwise, press **Who’s in it** above them. The club’s Welfare Officer can read the messages too.

## Replying

Tap **Reply** under a post, write your reply and tap **Reply** again. Everyone in the team can read it. Replies don’t email anybody.

Once something is posted it can’t be edited or deleted, by you or anyone else, so read it through first.

## Answering a poll

Sometimes the coach asks a question with set answers, like which day suits a session. Tap your answer under it. It’s saved straight away, and you can change it, or tap it again to take it back, until the poll closes. If you look after more than one player in the team, you answer for each of them separately.

You’ll only see how many people chose each answer if the coach chose to share the results, and you never see who answered what.

## If something worries you

Tap the **flag** beside a post and say what’s wrong if you want to. The club’s **Welfare Officer** is told straight away, and can hide the post. Nobody else is told who reported it.

If you’re worried about a child’s safety, tell your club’s Welfare Officer directly as well. See [how LEKKIN protects young players](/safeguarding/).

## Who can see it

Everyone in the team: the coaches, each player’s guardians, and players who have no guardian recorded (on youth teams, those players aren’t included). The club’s Welfare Officer and its admins can read it too. Messages are kept for two years.

## Groups

If somebody at the club has added you to a **group** (the kit committee, say, or the drivers for a tournament), it’s listed in **Messages** too. Everyone in a group can read and write. **Who’s in it** shows the people in it, and is where you **leave**: beside the conversation on a computer, or press it above the conversation on a phone. Only the club’s staff can add people, rename it or close it.
