Asking the club for a pitch

You ask; the club answers. A manager doesn't book the pitch themselves — the club decides, and the match page shows where it stands.

Asking

You ask for a pitch from a home match. Sessions don’t have this, and an away match says the home club books the ground.

1. Open the match from Fixtures.
2. Under Where we’re playing, press Ask for a pitch.
3. Choose the Pitch. The date is the match’s, and the times start from half an hour before kick-off.
4. Change From and To if you need to, and add Anything they should know if it helps — “we can move to 6:30 if that’s easier” saves a phone call.
5. Press Ask for this pitch.

When you choose a pitch, you see when it’s free that day, but not who has the rest. That’s deliberate: you need to know the ground is spoken for at three o’clock, not who else is using your club.

What happens next

Your request goes to whoever answers bookings at the club. They’re notified, and it waits under Requests in Facilities rather than in an email somebody scrolls past.

Asking doesn’t hold the slot. Two teams can ask for the same hour and the club decides between you — which is the honest way round, since a request that quietly blocked a pitch would let whoever asked first win by being quickest rather than by needing it most.

Your club needs pitch booking on its subscription. If it hasn’t got it, the request is refused straight away rather than left waiting.

Finding out what they said

Look at the match again. While the club hasn’t answered, Where we’re playing shows the pitch with Requested — not booked until the club confirms it. Once they confirm, it shows the pitch, the time and the address. You aren’t sent a message when they answer, so check the match.

Club admins and secretaries

If you’re a club admin or a secretary, you don’t ask. The same place shows Assign a pitch, which books the pitch straight away, and Cancel booking once one is booked.
