Trying pitch booking free for 30 days
Pitch booking can be tried for 30 days without paying anything and without entering a card. Here’s how to start it, what you’ll see while it runs, and what happens at the end.
Starting it
There are two places to start a trial, and both do the same thing:
- In the Club Hub, open Subscription and press Start free trial. On a phone, scroll to Club settings at the bottom of the dashboard to find it.
- In Facilities, press Start free trial on the banner that says pitch booking is a paid add-on.
There’s no card to enter, and nothing to cancel afterwards. Only a club admin can start it — a secretary sees the same button but can’t commit the club, which is the same rule as buying it.
Each club gets one free trial of pitch booking. Use it when you’ve got somebody who might actually hire a pitch, rather than to have a look round.
What you can do while it runs
Everything pitch booking does, for all of your club’s pitches — you don’t pick a plan to start a trial. Set your opening hours and prices, decide how requests are answered, open a pitch to the public, and put the booking page on your own website. Taking bookings for your pitches walks through the lot.
Bookings taken during the trial are real bookings, and money paid for them is your club’s, exactly as it is afterwards. You’ll need your bank account connected before anybody can pay by card — see Getting paid for a booking.
Knowing how long is left
For the last seven days, a notice across the top of every page in Facilities counts down how many days are left, and says so plainly on the last day. It’s shown to club admins — the same people who could buy it — so a secretary taking bookings isn’t counting down something they can’t act on. Pressing × puts it aside until you next sign in.
Club admins are also reminded seven days before it ends, and again on the last day — in the app and by email. Nobody has to remember the date.
If you want to keep it
Buy it at any point during the trial. Open Subscription, find the plan that matches how many pitches you actually let, and press Add. Prices are on Pricing.
You keep your free days. Nothing is charged when you buy part-way through: your first payment is taken on the date the trial was due to end, and your bookings carry straight on without a gap. If your club already pays for something else each month, pitch booking is added to that bill instead and covers only the days after your trial.
If you don’t
When a trial ends and the club hasn’t bought pitch booking, taking new bookings pauses — the same as a subscription that’s been stopped:
- Every booking you already have stays. Nothing is cancelled.
- You can still move, cancel and take payment for those bookings.
- What stops is taking new bookings.
- Your public booking page quietly stops offering times, rather than showing visitors an error.
So the end of a trial never leaves you unable to honour something you’ve promised somebody. Nothing else about your club changes, and you can buy pitch booking whenever you like — including months later.
Two other things
There’s no “Stop pitch booking” during a trial. There’s nothing to stop: no card was taken, and the trial ends on its own date.
