Comparison

LEKKIN and Spond, side by side.

Spond is a free app for organising teams and groups, with messaging built in. LEKKIN is built around the club: every team, the fixtures, match day, subs and the pitches. Here is where each is stronger.

Which suits your club

Choose Spond if

  • Chat is the centre of how your teams work, and you want an app built around it.
  • You want one app for teams across many different sports and activities.
  • You mostly need events, availability and payments, and little else.

Choose LEKKIN if

  • Your managers record football matches as they happen, with goals, cards and substitutions, even without signal.
  • You want every fixture across every competition in one list, from your club’s side.
  • You let your own pitches and want bookings in the same diary as your fixtures.
  • You collect a lot in subs. With LEKKIN the club pays a flat monthly amount by band, and small clubs pay nothing; we don’t take a percentage.

How each charges

Spond. The Spond app is free. When members pay through Spond, a percentage plus a fixed fee is taken from each payment. A club website is a paid monthly add-on. Their current fees are in their help centre.

LEKKIN. Teams, players and guardians, fixtures, availability, match recording and notifications are free. Subs collection is one flat monthly amount set by how much a club collects, and nothing for small clubs. Facility booking is charged per bookable facility, capped. The figures are on the price list.

Questions we get asked

Is LEKKIN a free alternative to Spond?

For running the club, yes: teams, players and guardians, fixtures, availability, match recording for football, and notifications are free. Both have messaging: Spond is built around it, and LEKKIN around running the club.

Does LEKKIN take a fee on every payment like Spond?

No. LEKKIN doesn’t take a percentage of what a club collects. The payment provider charges its own processing fee, and the club pays LEKKIN one flat monthly amount set by how much it collects in a year. Clubs collecting under a set amount pay nothing; the bands are on the pricing page.
