Notifications on your phone

Player HubPlayers, and guardians2 min read

As well as the email, the Player Hub can buzz your phone for the things that change what you do today.

What buzzes

Only a few things, the ones you’d want to know about straight away:

  • a coach posts something new to your team;
  • a game is called off or moved;
  • training is called off or moved.

A notification says who and where, never what somebody wrote, because a phone’s lock screen is often seen by other people. For example: “Coach Carter posted in Riverside FC Under 12s”, or “Game off: Riverside FC v Hilltop United”. Tap it to open the right page.

Turning them on

On Android, tap Turn on notifications when the Player Hub offers it (on a team’s messages, or after you say whether you can play), or go to Notification settings. Your phone then asks once; say Allow.

On an iPhone or iPad, add the Player Hub to your Home Screen first. Apple only sends notifications to apps opened from there:

  1. Open the Player Hub in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button, then Add to Home Screen.
  3. Open it from the new icon, go to Notification settings, and tap Turn on notifications.

Then tap Send a test notification to check it arrives.

Choosing which ones

In Notification settings, each kind that can buzz has a Push switch beside its Email switch. They’re separate: turning the email off doesn’t stop the buzz, and the other way round.

Notifications are set per device. Turning them on on your phone doesn’t turn them on on a tablet, and signing out of a device stops it.

If they’re blocked

If the page says notifications are blocked, your phone or browser was told not to allow them. Allow notifications for the Player Hub in your phone’s settings (on an iPhone: Settings → Notifications), then come back to Notification settings.
