Players' pay and the wage bill
For clubs that pay players: set each player's wage, appearance fees and bonuses once, and Finances works out what's due from their contracts and the games they played.
Who sees it
Players’ pay is in the Finances menu for club admins. A treasurer keeps the books without seeing what anybody is paid, so it isn’t offered to them.
Each player, with their contract
Open Players’ pay, then Pay terms. Each player is a row: their name and contract (“Season contract to 30 Jun 2027, renews”), then what they’re paid. Manage opens their pay; a player with no contract has Add contract instead.
Members of staff with a contract are listed too, their role beside their name. A staff contract is added in the Club Hub, under People, then Contracts (see Contracts and renewals). Staff are paid a wage, a win bonus, a signing-on fee and travel; the appearance fee and goal bonus are a player’s, so they aren’t offered. Somebody who plays as well as running a team can be paid any of them.
Adding a contract
Press Add contract on a player’s row (or New contract inside Manage). It takes four short steps, so the whole deal is set in one go:
- Contract: when it Starts and Ends.
- Wage: each week, each month or each game played, and how much. Choose No wage for a player paid only fees and bonuses.
- Fees and bonuses: an appearance fee, a win bonus (for each game won), a goal bonus, a signing-on fee and travel. Leave any they aren’t paid empty, and say whether it’s for their whole contract or one team’s games only.
- Check: the dates and every line of pay. Press Add contract to save it. All the pay starts on the contract’s first day.
If the new contract starts before their current one ends, the first step asks you to tick End it early: the current one then ends the day before the new one starts, and the pay on it ends with it. The date it was due to end is kept on record. To leave the current one alone, start the new one the day after it ends.
The Club Hub’s player page shows the contract too, with Manage contract to come straight here, and the Team Hub shows its dates under the player’s name.
Setting what a player is paid
Press Manage on the player’s row, then Add pay (or Add pay from the corner button, and choose the player). Say what it is:
- a wage, each week, each month, or for each game they play;
- an appearance fee, travel, or a win bonus, for each game they play (a win bonus only when their team wins);
- a goal bonus, for each goal they score;
- a signing-on fee, once.
Say how much and from when, and whether it’s for their whole contract or only one of your teams. A pay rise is a new term from the day it starts: give the old one an end date, so the history stays.
Tick Players see their own pay to show each player their own pay on their contract in the Player Hub. Nobody ever sees anyone else’s.
The wage bill
Wage bill shows what players’ pay comes to, for this season, last season, the last 12 months or your own dates:
- Contracted: weekly and monthly wages for the days in the span, and signing-on fees.
- Earned in games: appearance fees, travel, per-game wages, win and goal bonuses, worked out from the games recorded in the Team Hub: who started or came on, the result, and who scored.
- By kind, by team and by player, with what the wages come to each week.
It’s what’s due. What you’ve paid is recorded in Money in and out, under Wages and expenses, so it’s on your reports like every other cost.
Finances records what your players cost. It doesn’t do payroll: PAYE, National Insurance and payslips are for your payroll provider or accountant.
