Contracts and renewals
LEKKIN keeps each player's place at your club as a contract: when it runs to, and whether it renews. Most clubs never need to touch it: places renew every season, and players say if they're not coming back.
How it works
Each player’s place runs to the end of your contract year: the day before your season starts, unless you set your own date. When it ends it renews for next season, so you don’t re-register the whole club each summer.
Six weeks before it ends, each player (or their guardian) is asked whether they’re staying, by email and in the Player Hub, and reminded once before the answer closes, two weeks before the end. They can say Staying or Leaving at the end, and change their mind until then.
If a place isn’t renewed, the player leaves the club on the day after it ends: their squad places end with it, a Direct Debit to the club stops, and you’re told. Their history stays, and anything they owe is still owed.
Seeing who’s staying
Open People, then Contracts: a table of every contract at the club, players’ and staff’s. Anyone leaving or not set to renew is at the top, so you can plan; press a column’s heading to sort by name, role, status or last day instead. Role says whether they’re a player, a member of staff, or both. Each player’s row says whether they’ve been asked and what they said.
A team’s manager sees Leaving on the player’s card in the Team Hub’s squad, with the date.
Changing a contract
Press the ⋮ at the end of a row to set when that contract ends, or to stop it renewing (or start it again). A contract can’t end in the past: to end someone’s time at the club now, do that from their page instead.
To change several at once, tick them: the button in the bottom corner becomes Act on several, to set one last day for all of them, or to renew or not renew them. Contracts the club sets itself have no renewal to turn, and you’re told which were left.
Staff contracts
Your staff can have contracts too: a manager or coach you pay, say. Press the button in the bottom corner, then Add a staff contract, and choose who, their position (manager, head coach, goalkeeping coach, scout, physio, kit manager and more), when it starts and its last day. If the job isn’t in the list, press Not listed? Ask us to add it and tell us what it is. The position is what you pay them to do, and shows in the Role column; their roles in LEKKIN are separate, under Staff & access. You set it and extend it yourself; staff aren’t asked. If a staff contract ends without being extended, their roles at the club end with it, and you’re told.
Somebody who both plays and runs a team has one contract, their player’s, and it shows both roles. Staff are paid on their contract in Finances: a wage, a win bonus, a signing-on fee and travel, but not a player’s appearance fee or goal bonus (see Players’ pay).
How contracts work at your club
Press the button in the bottom corner, then How contracts work:
- Renew automatically, on by default. Turn it off and places end at the end of the year unless a player asks to stay.
- When players are asked, and when the answer closes, in weeks before the end.
- Our own contract year, if yours doesn’t end the day before the season starts.
- Contracted players: for a club paying players. You set each player’s contract dates yourself and renew them; players aren’t asked. You’re reminded before each contract ends, and a player whose contract you don’t extend leaves the club when it ends.
A player’s page
Each player’s page has a Contract card: what it is, when it ends and whether it renews. Anyone who can see players’ pay (club admins and owners) also sees what the player is paid, and Manage contract opens their pay in Finances, where a new contract is added (see Players’ pay).
