Inviting another club to play you
One game, on both teams’ fixtures, instead of each manager typing it in.
When to use it
You’re adding a match against a club that isn’t in the list of opponents: usually a cup tie, or a league opponent who hasn’t been entered yet. Inviting them puts the game on their fixtures too, so both squads see it and both clubs agree the result.
They don’t need to be on LEKKIN already. The invitation email lets a club that isn’t set itself up, with its name filled in, and brings them straight back to your invitation.
There’s no list of clubs to pick from: nobody can see which clubs are on LEKKIN, so the invitation is how you reach them.
While you add the match
- Open Matches and press +, then Add fixture.
- Choose the competition, and whether you’re at home or away.
- Under Opponent, choose Not listed, or not decided yet….
- Under Do you know who you’re playing?, choose Yes, and type their club’s name. The match has their name straight away, as a private opponent only your club can see.
- Tick Send them an invitation, then finish adding the match.
- The invitation opens. Type their email address and press Email the invitation, or leave it empty, press Get a link to share, then Share (on a phone, straight into WhatsApp or a text) or Copy link to paste it yourself.
- Add a note if it helps (“your Under 12s Girls”).
The link is shown only then, so copy it before you close.
Don’t know who you’re playing yet, because the cup draw hasn’t happened? Choose Not yet instead. The match shows To be confirmed, and you can choose them, or invite them, later.
For a match you’ve already added
Open the match, then When and where. Under Opponent, press Invite them (for a club you named yourself), or choose Not listed, or not decided yet… for a match still To be confirmed.
While you wait
The match reads invitation sent, with who it went to, and only your club sees that. It keeps the name you gave them until they accept.
To withdraw it, open the match, When and where, press Invitation… under Opponent, then Withdraw the invitation. Sending a new one also stops the old link.
When they accept, they choose their club and team, which takes the place of the name you gave them, and it’s on both teams’ fixtures. Both squads are told. If they decline, or nobody answers within 14 days (or by the kick-off), we tell you, and you can invite someone else or choose an opponent.
Who can do this
A team’s manager, for their own team, and club admins. Only for a match your club added. The other club answers in Answering an invitation to play.
